If you write for other peoples blogs, take note: Googles Matt Cutts says Guest blogging for SEO is dead. What he didnt say is that all guest blogging is dead - just spamming blog content for profit is. But thats true for all Web content since the launch of Google Penguin and, now, Google Hummingbird, which includes Penguin as part of its all-new algorithm. The reason its dead is that blogs are penalized when they post spammy content, so those in-the-know arent buying as much guest blogging content. Or shouldnt be. But Cutts goes on to say that guest blogging of quality content, including to promote a name, a brand, or a concept - without the spam - is fine and encourages its continuation. Just like with regular Web content. Google just wants quality content. So if you read his original line, its the for SEO that should tip you off.
