If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, which is as your own soul, entice you secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known, you, nor your fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, near to you, or far off from you, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; You shall not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither shall you spare, neither shall you conceal him: You shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are round about you; For they will turn away your son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the ANGER of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy YOU suddenly. And it shall be, if you do at all FORGET the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that YOU SHALL SURELY PERISH. Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve OTHER gods, and worship them; And then the LORDS WRATH be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest you perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
