If youre a dog owner walking your dog on the streets of Bucharest -Romania, this could happen to YOU!! The dog catchers mafia, together with the corrupt local authorities are taking dogs away from people who are unable to fight back in an attempt to capitalize on the stray dogs law which allocates $50 per dog caught, and bring them to death camps (aka local shelters) where they are thrown together in crowded spaces and end up either killing each other for lack of food, water, or spreading diseases for lack of any medical care. Most get infected from poorly performed spay/neuters by amateur vets, or are slaughtered at their discretion- the legal 14 days window is hardly ever followed. No volunteers are allowed in; if youre trying to go find your dog, you have 10 minutes to look for it, no cameras are allowed inside. You have to have proof of home ownership, income, and local ID to pull a dog out, so say you’re an unemployed student, housewife, or live with your parents, the Romanian state considers you are unfit to adopt a dog! This of course doesn’t apply if you were to simply go BUY a dog from a pet store at the mall… One of these horror shelters is located inside an actual prison and inmates are handling the dogs in the most cruel ways. Nobody cares, people who try to go and rescue animals come out with emotional scars, after witnessing what goes on. This is Romania, 2014. Hell for any animal lover, or decent human being. I have no words...
