If youre a mom (or a dad), then youre concerned about the food your children eat, of course, but did you know that the USDA, which regulates meat and poultry, does not have the power to shut down companies responsible for causing the deaths of people, including kids like 2 year old Kevin Kowalcyk? Companies (like Tyson & Cargill) can continue operating, even if they are repeat offenders of failing to prevent food-borne illnesses, because the government (Congress) wont give the agencies responsible for protecting our health the power to do their jobs because they get paid off by lobbyists to ignore the problem. This obviously puts you, me, and especially your kids at great risk of dying by merely eating what we assume is safe food. I tried looking for a good online petition that is based on all this, but I wasnt able to find any that had momentum, but Change.org is an excellent petition website that has worked wonders in getting their addressees to respond to their demands.
