If youre watching Catching Fire in Seattle, go to the Boeing IMAX theater. 50 min were shot on 65mm film, & I confirmed with the projectionist that theyve got a full 70mm film copy theyre projecting. Much like Christopher Nolans movies at the Boeing theater, 70mm film projection is really a spectacle to behold, a feast for the eyes. Even most of the 35mm shots were phenomenal, a testament to advances in film technology & the DMR blow-up process. The film experience was a sight for sore eyes after watching Gravity 3D on a 2K digital projector at PACCAR. IMAX 70mm should secede & separate itself from the IMAX Digital brand & its slogan should be: See the Movie, not the Pixels. Good grief. The movie was fantastic, btw.
