If youve had a childhood bliss as mine,then like I do,youll agree with me that,certainly,I might ve achieved all what any man wouldve yearned just in those few effortless childhood years before the begining of upper Primary!Why,I only went to school after achieving the better part for ordinary menfolk of this generation.Indeed.I had already owned vehicles-cars,lorries and buses easily at will and drove them practically to and fro to any destination known within few moments of making and trying out a mannual sample of a toy.I would erect story sky-scrappers as high as maize cobs would allow and thanks to God,I didnt lose a tooth or two whenever I Crushed onto sudden obstacles while blindly flying a Jet/plane in form of flimsy kites of banana fibres far overseas just running hooting breathlessly along village cross-roads as Mom cheered on!Then,I was anybody at short notice;doctor treating a patient whod never die since tins never do,and what a Cop I paused at ease & alert although our school scout was the only formation Id seen akin to military.Today,reality mocks in place of former fantasies and weakening limits saunter in like crazy.Suddenly Im not what I shouldve been nor cant I be what I couldnt.No power no prominence.Oddly,one fellow failure suggests the Gospels where some Ecclesiastic writer dismisses abitions prescribing humility to simple souls and wits.Im entrapped between voluntary submission and general allures within present contemporaries.Ill buy it & rest or object it then dismantle like the houses of cards-more than bungalows at Muthaiga- which I designed those days along the front footpath between the kitchen and the weedy tomato garden.Nostalgia.Happy is being a kid for ever.As a kid, whatever I wanted I made, became.
