#IfIHadAChurch Todays discussion is inspired by a fellow member - TopicsExpress

#IfIHadAChurch Todays discussion is inspired by a fellow member of #IfIHadAChurch Ntombi Maseko , she wrote a small note to me, I will share her note at the end of this. There is a man called Sam Harris. He is a well known atheist, author and international speaker on matters of why faith based beliefs contributes to some of the atrocities in the World. He makes a great argument all the time. He has debated with the Priests, church elders, Pastors. new agers, scientists etc. If you have not heard of him, I would suggest you go on YouTube and watch some of his debates. In one of his talks where he tries to demonstrate how utterly delusional and lazy to think faith based believers can be - He uses Elvis Presley and Tupac Shakur as examples. He argues that there are millions of people around the World who believe that Elvis the King is alive somewhere, that some people claim to have seen him. There are also millions of people who claim that Tupac is alive somewhere in Africa. These people who believe in the immortality of both Elvis and Tupac are ridiculed and considered mad. But those who believe in the living Jesus are perfectly normal, actually they are considered holy. I am sharing Sam Harris argument because Ntombi Maseko wrote to me about a similar thing and wanted us at #IfIHadAChurch to discuss it, here is her note: Hi Lebo , as a member of the congregation #ifihadachurch....can I be forward and propose the topic for one of the good Sundays ? Topic: ancestors as we know them ( our forefathers) vs biblical ancestors. Why are we discouraged to acknowledge our forefathers but to pray Jesus Christ who is also an ancestor ? #spiritual journey# - Ntombi Maseko Why does the recognition of known ancestors ridiculed?
