Ighoyota Amori IS BETTER. PDP ALL THE WAY. By Ena Ofugara. Uyovwi swo okwo (let the head/reason lead) is the favourite advice from my father, Chief Fred Ofugara to us and his students. Follow your heart sounds well and good. However, having followed your heart down forlorn and desolate roads to failure, one must pull his own ears and warn himself. Urhobos cannot live in isolation and demonize those who stand firm in keeping Urhobo relevant in state and National politics. Indeed, Amori is demonized because he plays the game of politics smart and with his head. Others think mere quoting of mantra urhobo must be governor is the way to go. To quote @Dr Sandra Dafiaghor not having your tribesman as governor does not lead to marginalization. Not voting for the eventual winner does. Thus, Urhobos must blame themselves for whatever marginalization she has received, real or imagined. Amori has only played it smart, hence he has remained in the party that has won at both state and national level . What little noise Urhobos are able to make in the ruling party, Amoris strategic placement makes it possible. Seriously, what party are the Urhobos? Are we to be tossed here and there by the whims and caprices of one man who interminably contests for governor without giving others a chance? Are we to be pineapple when that is on his menu, and then labour when he feels we must work? So people should dump their parties and party policy of rotation just because he is Urhobo? Those who criticise Chief Ighoyota Amori for his choice of governorship candidates must be reminded that tribes do not present candidates. Political parties do. Real politicians build their parties and not weaken it by vain insistence that their tribe must present the governor. Amori gave us and Delta James Ibori. He is Urhobo. Okowa stepped down for Uduaghan on the prodding of Amori and Ibori. Thus when Okowa runs for governor 8 years later, honourable men will honour that covenant with him. (That is if Chief Amori really voted Okowa. I know if I were a delegate, I would have voted Okowa. I would have looked at the handsome David Edevbie and asked him you dey wait for Ibori to endorse you abi? No be your mate Okowa dey waka from Michael Ejele Diden (itsekiri) house to Government (Tompolo, Ijaw) house everyday? As Uduaghan endorse Obuh reach, Okowa no slack. How you want take win such hardworking person? Blaming Chief Amori for the loss of Edevbie or of Omo-Agege who scored just ten votes is just looking for a scapegoat. Okowa has had victory coming his way by dint of personal hard work, and the informal agreement that power should move to Delta North. Amori or not, Okowa would have won. In fact, Omo Agege, Kenneth Gbagi and other Urhobo governorship candidates that refused to step down, one releasing a post I have not stepped down, are more responsible for the loss. Urhobo should hold such people responsible because if they stepped down, perhaps it would have sent a strong signal of a unified Urhobo and chance at winning. Instead it is Chief Amori that is being blamed. I maintain that Amori is by a long distance better than all those wishing to be governor. Let us compare the leading two Omo Agege and Amori. 1. BETRAYAL. Those who accuse Amori of splitting the Urhobos by forming UPF, Omo-Agege is the current president of UPF. Those who say Amori supported Uduaghan against Ogboru must remember that Omo-Agege ran against Ogboru, thus splitting the votes of Urhobos. Worse still, even with the strange votes from Koko, Omo-Agege had run on to congratulate Uduaghan, also rumoured to have given evidence in court in support of Uduaghan and ensuring his people are appointed into Uduaghans government. Amori is PDP, he must support Uduaghan. But when a PDP man leaves PDP and then does the bidding of PDP, then returns to PDP, I am definitely going redefine betrayal, if it is Amori, whose position is known ab initio and constant, that is considered the traitor. AGE. Omo-Ageges youthfulness is alluring. However the senate is not such a strenuous exercise. Give me a wise old man any day, if it is a mater of the higher house. IMPACT. Go to Mosogar and go to Orogun. Amori is from Mosogar, Omo-Agege is from Orogun. Please tell me who has impacted his area and empowered his people. Amori and his Mosogar are a joy to Urhobo when it comes to infrastructural development. PARTY. What will Labour Party do in the senate? As brilliant as our darling Ewherido, he did not head any committee nor was part of any caucus. Urhobo names could not be added to militant money collection and empowerment list, neither did Urhobo access the 1 billion naira farm funds. Sending people in weak parties to represent you is like sending a black man into a congress of white people. PARTYISM is as bad as racism. Even the governor of Ondo, the National leader of labour, is now PDP as is Peter Obi. CONSISTENCE. I do not know where Omo-Agege will stand tomorrow. We have not voted the Islamic party APC, we will not vote them. If we vote Omo-Agege, how are we sure he will not go to ACP or QTDGF or CDZXVB party? DO YOU KNOW WHERE HE WILL STAND? Amori I know will stay true. When he lost to Ewherido, he stayed constant. When he was told to step down for Aguariavwodo, he did. Today, he is where he should be.....MEASURE OF A MAN...CONSTANCE!!! REACH. Amori as a PDP man of long standing, he can easily become senate deputy leader or something powerful, by virtue of his having paid his dues politically. LOVE. No one has ever complained of Amoris ill-treatment or pride or temper. NO ONE UNCONTROVERSIAL PAST. Yes Amoris past is uncontroversial. That is as much as I can say. In conclusion, Urhobos of the 8 local governments must know that if we are not to complain of marginalization, if we are to benefit from this Nigeria politically, we must put aside all anger at perceived enemies. AMORI HAS DONE MORE FOR URHOBO THAN ANY OF THOSE RUNNING. AMORI CAN DO MORE THAN ANYONE ELSE CONTESTING.Let each take us to his village and street. Amori is a negotiator. He is mature. He is focused. He does not want to be governor, then senator in less than two months. He is not PDP, APC, CDC FGY AKTY PPTC and every possible part. He knows his calling. And for all of those screaming Urhobo governor, Urhobo governor, we screamed Urhobo governor and tried to elect Aguariavwodo and then Edevbie. The Edevbie that would have benefited from Urhobo governor, is he not now campaigning for Okowa? Politics is about party loyalty and calculations, negotiations and demands. Lamido and Muazu and many Hausa-Fulani are supporting Goodluck Jonathan. Power is who get what when and how and Amori can ensure that for us. LET US NOT GO FOR THOSE, WHO SEEK PERSONAL AGGRANDIZEMENT AND ANY POSITION OPEN, FROM REPRESENTING US. I know where I will see Amori in 4 years. I REQUIRE SUCH CONSISTENCE FROM MY LEADER/REPRESENTATIVE. VOTE AMORI FOR SENATOR DELTA CENTRAL.
