Ignore the clickbait title, and read this. Ive spent endless hours with struggling students over the last few years and this is the #1 lesson I repeat over and over, regardless of subject matter: Our intelligence is not fixed, and the best way that we can grow our intelligence is to embrace tasks where we might struggle and fail. Learning is ultimately about the struggle. Period. Whether were smart or not isnt a factor -- if Greeks drawing shapes in the sand over **2000** years ago could generate geometric proofs for the Unit Circle or the Pythagorean Theorem, then we can master this algebra worksheet no problem. We just have to be willing to struggle with the concepts until we understand them backwards, forwards, and upside-down.
