So Ive just watched the film 47 Ronin. Forgetting the whole magic and witches and half-breed nonsense that dilute the truth behind the fiction presented... my one main issue is (and Im probably looking at you here Darren Jon Ashmore ), how truly bushido was the ronins act? Id have thought waiting a year to avenge your Lords unjust death would lessen the power/symbol of the act. Better (or rather, more bushido-like) to respond immediately and fail, than to wait, plan, and succeed? (In fairness in the film the leader of the ronin is imprisoned,and Keanus character wasnt a Samurai, but the same excuse cannot be made by the other 45+ guys.) Or am I overthinking it? Regardless, spent almost the whole 2 hours thinking I was pretty much watching Legend of the Five Rings: The Movie. Which was nice.
