Ijaw Youths reject delegate list to National Conference over exclusion The umbrella body of Ijaw Youths worldwide, The Ijaw Youth Council has rejected the list of 492 delegates released by President Goodluck Jonathan for the National Conference over the non-inclusion of Ijaw Youths delegates to the conference. According to the IYC,though the Ijaw Youths an advocate for the convocation of the National Conference,the exclusion of its delegate is perceived as a deliberate attempt to deny Ijaw Youths and by extension Niger Delta Youths from presenting their aged long struggle for Resource Control and Self Determination at the National Conference. The IYC in a statement issued at the weekend and signed by its spokesperson, Eric Omare, stated that the action of the convener of the National Conference is unacceptable in view of the over 12 slots handed various youth groups without the inclusion of the Imaw Youth body. According to him,it is on record, that the IYC has been one of the most consistent advocates of a National Conference to discuss the future existence of Nigeria. Indeed, a National Conference is one of the foremost demands of the IYC as enshrined in the historic Kaiama Declaration. Therefore, for the IYC, the umbrella body of all Ijaw Youths, worldwide, the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria to be excluded from a list that has a total of twelve (12) nominees from Youth organizations is totally unacceptable.
