Ill be heading back north in a few hours but did have a few general thoughts before heading to the airport. A journey of self-discovery is actually about RE-discovery. We actually know who we are at our core, but have forgotten it. Fear has a lot to do with forgetting things, so get rid of the fear. Roadblocks and detours are blessings in disguise. Instead of freaking out cause you dont know where the road is going to end up, just go! And make sure youve got the top down (of the car!), tunes blaring and enjoy the ride -- yeah, dont forget to rev your engine once in a while too. ;) Talk to people. There are some amazing people in the world, reach out and say hi. You might just hear a great story, be able to give them some healing by listening and if you cant find a character then be one! I send warm smiles to some of my new friends: Samantha, Ruthie, Paul, Marina and Kevin. Society thinks women shouldnt travel alone. In my opinion, its about darn time that women can do anything they want to without a partner; whether it be a husband, boyfriend, or girlfriend(s) but when every front desk, every hostess/waiter/waitress realizes you are there alone they kinda are in disbelief. This is more so with women then men -- I get reactions of, Really? Ummmm, why? I wish I could do that! Dont get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy spending time with someone special who will hold my hand, open the door for me or explore new places. But there is great freedom in also being totally secure in who you are, being able to use your own judgement without constantly relying on another and getting in tune with your wants and needs. I can simply just go to the restaurant, event, or store that I want to without any discussion. I am my own best friend and Im great company -- and when I get to hang with other special people it just makes life even MORE fabulous, but Im totally content on my own too. Note to self -- just because it was a last minute reservation, Marie -- you know you aint no Econo Lodge girl anymore! What were you thinking? Sending waves of love to each of you reading this...yeah, and to the guys who just scrolled right on by too.
