Ill look back on 2014 with great sadness and happiness as well. I lost my Mom in April which affected me profoundly. I took some time off of work to get back my composure and clear my head space. I thoroughly enjoyed my three months off, spending time in our lovely new gardens (thank you very much Andrew) watched my kids play on the new play set (thank you Mom) and just spent time taking care of myself for a while. I played a full year in Grade 1 and learned the true meaning of fear during performance. Thank you John for putting up with and encouraging me. We went to the World Pipe Band Championships in August and though I didnt play (whew!) I learned so very much from the experience from a Gr. 1 perspective. My friends and family were the shining jewels of the year, coming over to visit, helping out, watching the kids and helping to make things a little bit easier on me as I was a basket case for the better part of 6 months. I thank Gail, Ken in particular because they dropped everything to come stay at our house to help care for Mom in her last week. I cant thank you enough and I love you more than words can express. Margaret for picking up pieces of me and carrying lots of slack, I love you so much and proudly call you Mom. Sarah and John, just talking to you was enough to make me smile. All of my band mates in Peel Regional Police Pipeband did a fantastic job of making practice and the games supremely fun and a welcome distraction to my grief. Everyone else who sent messages, gifts, kind thoughts and love, I love you back so very much! Onward to a year of growing, progress and growth! Happy New Year all.
