Ill say this: Theres a big difference between secularization and relevance. I dont agree/disagree with every aspect of this article, but if we as a church are not striving to meet the needs of the people in the world, we have completely missed the point. That doesnt mean we look like the world, but we will have to enter it. We can find ourselves damaging opportunities to reach others if we are too caught up with the music being too loud or they dont use the right version of the bible. The church doesnt grow and believers arent born because the church presents itself a certain way. Its the wisdom in scripture that drives them to love all who enter their doors. If there is truth in the message and lives are being changed, the experience doesnt really matter. If we want our congregations to be distinct from the world, its quite possible that were trying to reach the wrong group of people. Look in the mirror. Youre a part of your congregation. Start there.
