Illinois HAS a law that was passed Aug 12, 2013 to deal with this very issue. Problem? They never set a date for completion of the training to be done. This is from a friends page. Please read. i will put links for the new law in comments....... Governor Quinn signed into law that mandatory re- training of all law enforcement in Illinios and it took effect on Jan 1st of this year. There is no set completion date for this training. I have called several police departments in my county (Lee County) and not a one of them knew about this new addition to the police training act. Amends the Illinois Police Training Act. Provides for a training program in animal fighting awareness and humane response for law enforcement officers. Provides that the purpose of the training is to equip law enforcement officers to identify animal fighting operations and respond appropriately. Senate Committee Amendment No. 1 Adds a provision that the training include canine behavior and nonlethal ways to subdue a canine. It will take more than just me to call the police departments and make them aware that this bill is now law. All of you please call your local Police Departments and ask if they know about it. It is house bill #3388. There is no set completion date for this training however it is your right to demand to know when the training will be completed. Dogs will continue to be shot and killed by police until all of us raise our voice so loud they will hear us in Washington! Residence of Illinois it is our turn to make sure all law enforcement are upholding the law! Make the phone calls PLEASE! THIS WAS POSTED BY ONE OF OUR SUPPORTERS JEAN KARLSSON
