Illinois MBA student & alum to film documentary this winter Voices of Khumbu is a collaboration between four film artists examining the commercialization of Mount Everest and its impacts on the Sherpa people. They aim to raise awareness for Sherpa culture, empower Sherpa women, and explore the generational gaps that lead to migration to urban areas. Current Illinois MBA student John OHara and Illinois MBA alumna Melissa Chua are co-directors of the project. They will tell a story of Khumbu specifically through the lens of women and adolescent children, resulting in a 50-minute documentary introducing viewers to the cultural, economic, and environmental impacts of mountain tourism.
