“#Illridewithyou” is cute. It restores our faith in humanity. No incident however big or small should shake the very foundations of trust and camaraderie. Love is the glue that keeps us all together. Without love we’ll be a very sorry specie. “#Illridewithyou” is annoying. It restores our faith in human stupidity. No incident however big or small should stir us out of our perennial denial mode. Denial is partial blindness, seeing things and not seeing them, not seeing things and seeing them. Without denying the obvious we’ll be an extremely reasonable specie. The world is not suffering because of the atrocities and bigotry of a handful of people. The world is suffering because rest of us are busy denying the existence of the extremists. Passing casual statements like “they don’t represent us” is not going to help the rest of the people. If there are a lot of their tribe, something has to be very wrong which needs to be identified and resolved.
