Im 2 hours into an 8 hour bus journey, and Ive realised that this is the longest amount of time that Ive spent on my own in the last 14 weeks. Between camp & the trek, quiet time is something that Ive not had a lot of, Im homesick for the noise of camp or the van already! Starting out this summer I genuinely didnt think that it would be possible to make friends who would become like family in the space of a couple of weeks or months. Ive met so many incredible people this summer who have opened my mind and inspired me in so many different ways. From co-counselors to tour guides to my fellow Trekkers to camp nurses to strangers I talked to on the street. While I cant wait to go home and see everyone & get back to uni, I genuinely dont think that anything could ever top the summer that Ive just had, and I could happily spend another couple of months squished into the trek van traveling the country with the goons. Im also currently sat beside an old man whose brother is the one that gave Janis Joplin the hit that killed her, and he goes to AA with Robert Downey Jnr. and is quite the legend.
