Im 47 years young and started my passion for radio at the age of 10 on CB. After some years chatting with other CB-stations in the neighborhood (in particular with the YL on CB, grin grin)... I explored the 27555 to make my first steps in international contacts. In the navy I learned CW and naval-communications, so the bridge to HAM-radio was small (started as ON3VBJ, ON2VBJ and full-license: ON8AIR). In the radioroom of the ship we installed a HF-radio and we make shortwave-contacts as /MM. Everything was better than hanging on the bar with some beer (ssssshhht, the XYL is behind me). So, I like HF a lot... In 2012, the first steps on HS3 were done. It was fun... but not what I was looking for. It was far to easy for me to make DX-contacts so I quit the system (but I respect the OM who enjoy HS3). In september 14 we moved from deeper Belgium to the coast-side (in the port where I work) and had to wait to mount my HF-antennas on the roof of the building. We live on the third floor, so I decided to try HS3 again. I heard about the new system and I thought: Lets pay for a year and see what HS4 can bring to me... So I explore HS4 since the 10th of november last year and it still surprises me every day: amazing good system, real propagation, stable QSL-system, nice logbookmethod, my DX-hunt-instinct welled up again and the most important thing of HamSphere: new friends (not just friends for 1 QSO, but friends forever: on FB, on the radio). Extra advantage... the HS-facebookpages: those pages bring the real face after the voice in view and with some of them I have a very good friendship now. Specially the guys who send FB-messages as: Hey, have you seen that spike on 10? Thats DX and maybe a new-one for you... or the encouraging words of HS-facebookusers when propagation is down. I love the satisfaction to work new divisions, enjoyed the first contest and I love to greet the friends on air, time after time... even the stations Ive worked several times before. The real HF-radio stays in OFF-modus, while HS4 is running in over-drive here. Thank you all for your friendship and the new leisure I found. 73 de ON8AIR At your service!
