Im NOT voting Vision Vancouver. I am sick of being lied to and fed bullshit from people who speak of good intentions but have no ethics of their own. I did an investigation into a very small part of municipal finances this summer. An investigation into how public money was spent. I was looking for information that i as a tax payer should be entitled to see. But in my efforts I was repeatedly and deliberately blocked, delayed, and ignored by our municipality. I was given phone numbers to call that didnt go anywhere, and e-mail addresses that led to automated responses. I was ignored like a roaming addict when asking questions in public offices. I was told that without $10 grand, 6 months and a lawyer I wouldnt be getting any of the information I was looking for. What I was investigating was how multiple non-for profit organizations in Vancouver took money that should have been used to benefit the city and society, but instead used this money to for their own political advantages never having to be accountable for any of it. When these non-profits failed and dissolved or went under, their financial proceedings were protected by the Municipality. Handing out non-disclosure agreements to the Developers and Researchers who had actually been running these non-profits. Vision Vancouver and Gregor Robertson have protected white collar criminals and used the politically motivated Green constituency to gain support. They will sell out as fast as the NPA, provided they can figure out a good way to lie to us, AND make their money. I feel that too many people are green-washed by the oil and pipeline issues. That the desire to stop this development clouds their judgement in regards to everything else thats going on. I understand its a major concern but I, personally, do not think that it should be The City of Vancouvers number one priority. Maybe the rampant drug distribution, homeless people dying in parks, and the infestation of bureaucratic corruption needs to stop before we get on our high horses about whether or not our society needs oil.
