Im a control freak about most of my runs I analyze them probably way to much lol, Saturdays race was hard on me because I wanted to run faster, I felt I could at times, but my heart rate was out of control! Almost 200 bpm the whole time during the race. Reading this article makes me understand why maybe it was so out of control.. The pain from my injury I think played a big role.. Hopefully Ill get some answers tomorrow with the MRI thats scheduled.. I am going to start running in target heart rate zones for the next two months to hopefully help my heart rate to catch up to my fitness level if you will. I do most of my workouts at 90% of my max which is causing me to plateau I believe. It will defiantly be a struggle with my patience, but Im hoping it will pay off in the long run. Also, certain other factors that have little to do with your level of fitness will impact your heart rate. If you’re dehydrated, if it’s a superhot day, or if you’re in pain, your heart rate might skyrocket, even if you’re running at a slower pace.
