Im about to post something very personal, but I want people to see it so they can see just what kind of man Lance Bingaman was. But first it needs some context. I met Lance when I was 10 We didnt get a long at all He bullied me like kids do and I always antagonized him, like kids do. Some of our fights got ugly and we both said some pretty awful things to each other. This lasted up until our junior or so year of high school. When we finally just got tired of hating each other. We became decent friends and always made jokes, but eventually we stopped talking that way people do. Then a few years later he shoots me a pm about how hes been thinking about how he treated me. Now this was out of the blue. We hadnt spoke in years He did not have to seek me out. He did not need to apologize. But thats the kind of person Lance was. He took the time to look me up, apologize for something I had long put behind me and wanted to know if I was doing ok in life. These arent the entirety of our conversations, but these are the parts that really stuck with me. Even though I had put it all behind me Lance gave me something I didnt even know I needed Its something I hope I helped him find. Lance gave me closure. After our talks I was able to let go of a lot of things I didnt know I had been holding in my heart. Lance was my childhood bully and I didnt find out until these talks that he was wrestling with his own issues at the time, issues very similar to the ones I was dealing with but thats not what Im going to remember him for. Ive never blamed Lance for the way he treated me as a kid because we all know that growing up is hard. Im going to remember him as the only person who ever apologized to me for picking on me and for being a shining example of how we should all strive to be better people. Im glad we ended on good terms and I hope his family sees this so they can be that much more proud of him. Lance Bingaman was my friend and a wonderful person. I hope you all take time to read through this and appreciate the person he was. My thoughts are with his family tonight, truly am sorry for your loss.
