Im always a little ambivalent about the value of Facebook but one thing I do enjoy is seeing all the interesting stuff that former students are up to. My newsfeed on any given day can be full of hurricane-chasing, midwifing, doctoring and lawyering, mapmaking, protest rallies, concert going (or playing), horse-whispering, heading off to the Peace Corps, culinary school, grad school, leading treks in Alaska, teaching, and many many other interesting things besides. Im not surprised that theyre doing such cool things because they were always interesting people; it just makes me kind of wonder what I did during my 20s. Oh wait, it was the 90s. I will blame grunge, swing dancing, and pool halls for the wasted decade.
