Im at a meeting of leaders of churches with more than 250 members. We have had challenging input and good fellowship. One question we were asked yesterday came from Acts 15. There was controversy in the early church but the council of Jerusalem decided that no obstacle should be placed in the way of Gentiles turning to God. Lets translate that to people who do not know Jesus yet. At Adelaide West what obstacles do we put in the way of people who come seeking God at Adelaide West? Our language, are we friendly enough? Do we follow up and share lives together? We can also ask the question in the positive - what obstacles have we removed so that those who dont know Jesus yet can walk into AW and not feel a stranger? What things have we changed so that the culture of AW is not an obstacle in itself? When we remove the obstacles it is easier for people to hear the message grace.
