Im confused again. Nothing new. But Ive read for months and years that much or all of the opposition to illegal immigration has its roots in racism. It obviously would have nothing to do with the fact that its illegal among other common sense reasons such as elementary fairness, poor economic times and more. Time Magazine One of my favorite quotes defines racism as, Any liberal losing an argument with a conservative. Theres a boatload of truth in that. Its not my fault or yours that the largest wave of illegals come from Latin America and are slightly more pigmented than I am but thats the origin of these claims of racial bias. Now fast forward to this weekend when the Indianapolis Star posted a political cartoon on its website which was decried as racist. The panel showed a family (white) sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner with some happy looking illegals coming through the window when dad says, Thanks to the presidents immigration order, well be having extra guests this Thanksgiving. The Star took it down after a few hours when readers claimed it was racist because the guest with a ballcap and mustache looked like he might be from Latin America. So which is it? Youre a racist because everyone knows the illegals you dont want are Latin Americans and youre racist if your cartoon dares to suggest that illegals are Latin American. Which is it? Liberals are arguing against themselves again.
