Im continually reminded of how the smallest acts of kindness can - TopicsExpress

Im continually reminded of how the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference. At Starbucks, I have always made an effort to remember everyones names. I have always believed that it creates a special bond with customers if you call them by name when they walk in. Today, a customer walked in pale-faced and clearly exhausted. When it came time to take her order I greeted her by her name and asked what she wanted. A radiant, joyful smile parted the sadness on her face and she was astonished. Her: Did...did you just remember my name? Me: Uh... yes. Her: I just want you to know that I really needed that. This has been such an awful week and that just made it all better. Thank you! I seriously thought she was about to cry. I didnt know what to say at the time. That moment meant so much to me, though. I intend to tell her just that the next time I see her. All this to say, sometimes it seems like we labor in vain. Ive been calling people by name for over 10 months now, but this is the moment Ive been working towards. I just wanted to share that. Be patient. Be kind.
