Im doing remembered today the night before as Im up early in the morning and on this day 7th August Middleton suffered grievous casualties, 18 men in all. 17 perished on the same day in 1915, 2 in 1917. The men lost in 1915 died in the Battle of the Vineyard in Gallipoli, which I have read about more after a prompt from a colleague (Ian!) and have come to the conclusion that it may not have been the British Armys finest moment. The men lost were; George Angus MacDonald John Robert Vance James Brookes Harold Dean James Dean Arthur Dean George Wild Herbert Hamer Elijah Heywood John Hunt Robert Jacques Alfred Liddle Fred Lewis Leonard Oliver James Partington William Roberts Harry Senior RIP to all these lost men. I thought I would show the grave of the man who died in 1917, simply because in the face of so many other men being remembered today from a different war zone I dont want him to be forgotten as well. Private Norman Cedric Taylor, died this day 1917, buried in Menin Road Cemetery, Ypres. RIP.
