Im done. Im done trying to walk that fine line between mollifying my gun-owning friends and actively advocating stricter background checks and limits on the sale of assault rifles and ammunition. To my gun-owning friends, I am not talking about taking away your guns or those of other responsible gun owners, and I dont know any reasonable person who is. You might want to stop being so paranoid about that and stop posting defensive comments that misconstrue the actual intent of the original post. You may instead want to hear what many of us are saying: We dont want your frickin guns. But we want to do as much as we can to keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people. And please, stop trying to deflect attention from the real issues by bringing up things like the number of people killed by knives (not even close and not a mass-murder weapon) and cars (seldom intentional). Youre just pissing off people like me who support your right to own guns but are beginning to wonder how long that support will last. Paranoia on your part makes me more than a little uncomfortable knowing that you own guns.
