Im enjoying a cup of java while the house is still and quiet and reflecting on the past several months and days of this campaign trail. Im struck by the conversations that are being had that are more gossip spoken indirectly about individuals as opposed to straight talk with individuals about the issues. Or the angry dialogues about what matters to us rather than discussion that is consistent with out heartfelt commitment to our great community -- without animosity or upset. How has all of this devolved to this lack of civility and truth? What happened to debating the issues, then enjoying a glass of something together afterward as comrades? There are those who would question if Im a conservative -- I would say actions and deeds reflect ones heart and mind, not ones words. Words are cheap, unless they are tied to your heart like: I love you, or I promise. Those words are a commitment and they matter and I live those words everyday with my family, my work and my friends. People ask me about the issues of growth and impact fees, Yes, I believe we must grow responsibly and create economic expansion or we risk rolling backwards. But they miss the point of the larger commitment to prosperity and peace. As a nation right now, our peace, prosperity and sovereignty is under siege and if we dont take it back, not through words, but actions and deeds, we will no longer be this great nation - a constitutional republic - that is for the people and by the people, not by some government entity that cant deliver to our family, friends and neighbors what we alone can deliver. We must stop our reliance on it and restore our reliance to us. The value of life and education, the pursuit of happiness, not because we deserve it, but because we make it so. Individual responsibility and collective unity. This is who I am. If you like that, you should vote for me, if not, please dont. And , if you have any questions about me, dont ask someone else. Call me. Id love to have that straight talk. Now, back to my coffee before my son wakes up and this magnificent day filled with Gods blessings unfolds...
