Im excited to announce that next week is Education Week. I strongly believe a quality education begins at a young age and continues throughout a student’s life, so I am meeting with educators at every level. From college presidents to elementary school teachers, I plan to spend the week hearing about what’s working in East Tennessee and what needs improving. We’re fortunate to have many excellent colleges, universities, and technical schools in our area. Likewise, the teachers in our area are second to none. As a member of the House Committee on Education and the Workforce, I know that Washington bureaucrats too often frustrate teachers and administrators, forcing them to navigate a difficult maze of red tape. I want to hear how we can get Washington out of their way and empower them to do what they do best: educate young people. If you are an educator in the First District or just a constituent interested in the events were holding next week, you can visit roe.house.gov/educationweek for more information and a full schedule of events. Feel free to share with anyone you think might benefit from or be interested in these events. Anyone with questions can contact my Washington office at 202-225-6356. I hope you can join me!
