Im feeling very peaceful at the moment sitting in a nicely built deer stand some refer to the style as a box stand. Its raining pretty good but Im dry thanks to this enclosure. Other than the rain and the murder of crow its pretty still and quiet. Ive got on just the right amount of layers to where I have a slight chill but its perfect. Its like turning the AC on high when its a hundred degrees outside. Refreshing. On the way to the family hunting cabin I had to drive deep down into an Ozark Hollow and cross over a one lane bridge. I like to stop here and look at the moss covered boulders and the different colors in the leaves. This time around I got the pleasure to see a Golden Eagle flap his wings on a limb just above eye level about 30 yards away. I turned off the Grateful Dead and stopped the windshield wipers as I rolled down the window. I grabbed my Olympus Pen camera in time but unfortunately I still had my wide angle lens on for taking pictures of homes. Hopefully I can enlarge the one pic I was able to take before he flew away. It was a wonderful feeling pulling up to our cabin and getting a fire started in the wood stove we recently installed. I then prepared a big pot full of vegetables and a roast from a deer I harvested a couple of weeks ago. Brought it to a boil then set it on simmer. I then put a bigger log on the fire I started. Layered up with a flannel and rain gear and loaded my gun. Hear I sit enjoying this moment on my journey through life. I will sit here until dark. The deer roast will be ready once I undress and settle into our little log cabin after dark. Cheers to you. Carpe Diem.
