Im five weeks into a teaching assignment. I met the principal for the first time, today! I had to stop her in the hallway and ask her an important question in regards to conferences. She said I dont need to be there, even though I call and interact with parents daily as well as all the grading. When the student shows up and Im not there I look like an asshole. My calls home will mean less than they already do. She then felt the need to tell me to police my classroom better. I walk around the perimeter constantly. I check the secondary hallway that leads to my classroom (and three other rooms. We have an open air design and have no walls between classrooms.) I check the abandoned classroom that we use as storage several times a class. I do all this while still teaching. There are three other teachers sharing the same space. Maybe they should police the area more as well. They get paid more and they get benefits. But, they want to blame the student behavior on me. I see them do something wrong. I tell them to stop. When they dont stop I get security. Thats the extent of what I can do. I cannot physically restrain or engage a child. Im great at my job. Two other administrators told me Im doing a great job. But, the principal is ill informed and has the brains of a dried out turd. I give every bit of goodness to the job. I dont deserve to work for such assholes. Our public schools are ruined because we spite the employees and let complete ass-bags run the schools. Maybe she should meet me and come into my classroom and see how things are going instead of assuming. She says Im too nice. If I say stop doing that hatefully or politely I will get the same response. I am not paid to be angry. Im paid to intercede. I do that. If the student then chooses to misbehave I have no control over that. Its called freewill. If I figure out how to control that Ill take over the world and turn this principal into hot dog meat. Like I need more stress. A student threatened me with violence. I reported it. They sent him back to class. We had a physical altercation (he head butted me). He was suspended for three days and his class was reassigned. He threatened me in the hallway. I told the principal and she said I need to be meaner to him. She is worthless.
