Im glad Im not the only one on the Vodka! After our discussion on sugar-glue yesterday...turns out some of you mix Tylo (or other strengtheners) with Vodka instead of water. Well I shall be doing that too in future! (thank you for that tip!) I swear by my Vodka. It guards against dirt and bacteria. I always wipe my cake boards with it before using them (even if they come wrapped....theyve still been in a factory environment!) I use Vodka to paint on fondant....and I also use it when I want to give a light sheen to my finish. I once made a demo cake....and kept it to see how long it lasted. It lasted a fair few weeks....BUT when it eventually did go moldy....the first specs were in the locations where I had probed the cake to test it was baked! So now I always wipe my probes with Vodka too. Belt and braces on hygiene I reckon! As for drinking the stuff???? Errrgh! Tastes like yak to me! But if people see it in my tool box and think Im some sort of hell-raising alccy....well.... I dont mind. Makes me seem more colourful! :) *says she as she sits down to her cup of tea and custard cream :/ *
