Im going to embarrass her, but I really need to take a minute to put a spotlight on Nancy Dickson, a dedicated and concerned Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) Puppy Raiser and Volunteer. Nancy wasted no time jumping in to get out the word out and coordinate alerts concerning the now-recovered CCI Skilled Companion Dog CARA, who went missing on Friday 9/26 from her home in La Jolla, CA, under suspicious circumstances. As soon as she saw the first posting about CARAs situation, Nancy immediately contacted the family and stayed in touch with them, passing on up-to-date information through social media and emails. With a 30-year career in law enforcement, I know the pressures and stress of being the point person in these types of events. Nancy - Youre my Hero of the Year for 2014. Well done, my friend, well done - and with a pawsitive ending, to boot. My eternal thanks, Im sure others agree with me, for all the time, tireless effort and love you put into this situation.
