Im going to keep my dial on whatever station it is that Im currently tuned into, because the original dj (Universe) is rockin my world about now at this frequency. Here, every song is anthem and reflection of my ability to listen, surrender and act with presence. Last weekend, was about as EPIC as it gets in the musical kingdom in which I dwell. It literally took a car, bus, a train and plane. Im not one to post every 10 minutes, when I can be PRESENT with others, so I hope you enjoy gettin it all in one swoop! The journey began at Lightning in a Bottle, where I was blessed to present aural offerings at two stages (Bamboo & Yoga Om) with yoga teacher extraordinaires, Nicole Doherty and Cristi Christensen. God bless all who braved the 90 degree heat at 10am on Friday to yoga and dance with us for two hours (on mulch no less). Nicole and myself are so grateful for the level of support and commitment you showed us at our Sonic Shamanic workshop. Sometimes, you must take lemons and make lemonade as they say:-). DEEP EXHALE on Saturday morning was truly magnificent in my humble opinion. It was the highlight of my LIB experience and thats a mouthful. Big love to brother Pumpkin for making this dj dance at The Woogie Stage and the Liberation Movement for representing the highest vibration through music Ive witnessed thus far. Wow! My favorite late night hangout was Amoris Casino & Burlesque (Love you brother Helix). Thanks Ali Wender and Oosha for being so accommodating and getting me to my bus/train combo back to LA! Giving the task at hand...hats off to THE DO LAB for making it WORK! Once in LA, I literally hit the ground running. Picked up Mr Morales from LAX, returned home and prepped for DEEP. Due to a commitment I made 6 months ago, I needed to be in Detroit to play the Movement Electronic Music Festival (OFFICIAL), alongside brother Migs (Miguel Steward) the next afternoon. Therefore, the only way I could make it on time, was to catch the 1:30am red eye and sadly leave DEEP after my set. However, this night was never about me and I felt so very blessed to facilitate our community being able to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of our hero, Frankie Knuckles. Leaving was challenging to say the least, because the place was on FIRE! During my layover, the club had serendipitously just ended and I spoke with David Morales, who said Marques, it was INCREDIBLE! By all accounts this was the case. I was by far more happy than envious:-) With over 1000 Frankie lovers braving our doors, we were able to make a significant donation to the American Diabetes Association. This sent me to Detroit with a massive smile on my face. DEEP TEAM (Cee, Tamara, Rina, Stacee, Trish, Ani)...you made me so PROUD! Thank you Sound Nightclub family for being so amazing to us and our people. I landed in Detroit, showered, pick up credentials and headed to festival. I arrived and quickly ran into so many of my comrades I hadnt seen in quite a bit of time. You name it...Eddie Fowlkes, Carl Craig, Soul Clap, Carl Cox and the list goes on. I had the best time and weekend I can remember to date (musically baby:-). I must say that festival is the MOST organized team of people I have ever seen. I am in awe of your operation. I returned home Tuesday in time to grab a bite with David and my lovely (Jackie Theis), while getting a beautiful recap of his DEEP experience. I really could not have wished for this weekend to unfold in a more beautiful way. Thank you babe for being my adhesive and getting me from point A to B. Thanks to all who shared such wonderful space with me and co-created something so memorable. Lets meet there again shall we?
