Im going to post a testimony: I wasnt a great student. I talked too much, occasionally disrupted class and often had a undeniable lack of focus on things that were important. I wasnt horrible or violent but suffice it to say that I AM SURE that I wasnt the teachers ideal model student by any stretch. Conversely, 99% of my teachers and professors had good intentions. They were doing a thankless, tough job for low pay and I suspect, mostly because they loved it. I had a lot of great ones - and I am very thankful for that. But me; I didnt appreciate that at the time and I very fortunate they tolerated me for as long as they did. Liberal Take: I should demand tax payer funding for a study on why the teachers didnt succeed into developing me into an academic all-American. Shame on them. Something must be wrong with them. This really needs to be addressed because it wasnt my fault. They werent equipped or trained on how to deal with me. My failure to fully value what was offered to me (tax payer funding education, no less) is their fault! Its a terrible disservice and tragedy. They mustve been intolerant of my race, my culture and my feelings. My Take: Thank Heavens that good Lord was looking after me and Blessed these great people with patience and tolerance. The whipped my ass at school on countless occasions. I deserved more than that. I had great teachers along the way. Thank goodness I learned something that prepared me for life but sadly, I couldve learned so much more if Id had my head screwed on right. Other than my own failure to take advantage of all that was offered me, I wouldnt change a thing. Im grateful they gave me a chance - over and over. I thankful my family hung in there with me. I didnt deserve it. If I were in a position to do so, I would reorganize the entire education system to give teachers more of a voice and I would pay them more for performance and commitment. Behind parents and pastors, teachers are our biggest influencers. Thank goodness for them.
