Im going to set my worldview and policy differences with NJ - TopicsExpress

Im going to set my worldview and policy differences with NJ Governor Chris Christie aside for 5 minutes, especially in light of the recent New York Times headline: Mayor of Hoboken Says Hurricane Relief Was Threatened (nytimes/2014/01/19/nyregion/florida-trip-is-no-reprieve-for-new-jersey-governor.html?_r=0). Why did Mayor Dawn Zimmer wait until now to come forward with this story of alleged intimidation? In a New York Daily News article, she claims she hesitated because she was afraid of further jeopardizing her Sandy funding. (nydailynews/news/politics/n-mayor-christie-held-sandy-aid-hostage-article-1.1584658) I have two thoughts: 1. By waiting until now to bring up this story, it shows just another example of Democrats ganging up on a Republican opponent to further vilify him - pure bullying. Her claims reminds me of Anita Hill: unsubstantiated victimology, unprovable, and lamely late. 2. If this story is true, and her timidity was indeed due to fear of lost funding, she points to a big difference between Republicans and Democrats. Democrats are willing to let state officials run rampant and intimidate wimpy politicians to increase the size and reach of government.
