Im happy and proud to live in City of Takoma Park, MD - Municipal Government for many reasons: kind neighbors, sense of humor, vibrancy, focus on children, compassion, passion, justice. Particularly proud that we are first place in USA to set 16 as minimum voting age (alas, only for City elections). One cost of having a fairly good city government, led by our Mayor Bruce Williams, is that everyone is running unopposed. Takoma Park-ers: please ask City Council to identify a couple of issues (e.g., budget priorities) to place on ballot as advisory referenda. That would spark debate and turn-out even when no/few contested elections. Thanks.
