Im happy to report I received from the great photographer Mike Arthur this week a picture of my favorite Super, and maybe my favorite race car of all time. The beautiful Roger Beck super mod owned and driven by Arizonas Rapid Robert Harrell who was one of the best short track drivers and fabricators of my lifetime in Arizona. Robert contributed to countless amazing looking race cars throughout his time winning in the sport. Many of the best short track cars at Manzy were built or bodied by Robert before the time of the assembly line kit cars. This shot is in the pits at Manzanita during the 1977 Western States Championship for Super Modifieds. Mike Arthur has a hell of an archive and everyone should take advantage of it and purchase his amazing photos. Thanks Mike, you made my week, you are the very best, and I mean no offense to all the other fantastic photographers who spend the countless hours shooting our beloved open wheel racing.
