Im having some difficulty implementing a dairy-free diet. Im already well practiced at noticing and avoiding meat-based ingredients, but I just ordered a latte without even thinking about it. Finding vegan options is a lot harder than vegetarian! Im not being quite as strict about this as about refusing meat products, because it seems to me the incremental economic contribution to suffering is a lot smaller when I buy dairy products than when I buy meat. Its still big enough to obligate me to avoid it whenever practical. But I do have to set a minimum threshold for the contribution to suffering of any given act before I accept a moral duty of refraining from it. Otherwise I wouldnt be able to live.
