Im honestly not sure what I think of this. On one hand, I do believe it is a parents responsibility (as much as they are able to) to provide for their children in going to college. I think this has changed in the past several years because before college wasnt necessarily absolutely necessary to find a good career but now it really is (unless you are an exception). That being said, I dont think parents should be forced to pay for college with no strings attached so to speak. For example, if they are willing to pay for in-state tuition but not out of state tuition - I think that she should either accept that OR make up the difference in cost on her own (loans, etc) for housing, increased tuition, etc. Also, if you dont want to have a relationship with them for years, but then you want them to buy you things... yeah, Im not sure thats the way the world works. Im sure there are parts of the story we arent getting from this article... but as much as education is important, I dont think you are ENTITLED to money, necessarily. Especially in situations where 1) You dont really care about the education, just the socialization, 2) You choose a stupid major that wont get you anywhere in life, etc. etc. End rant.
