Im honestly starting to believe that there should be laws to social networking websites, or some sort of common respect policy that is absolutely demanded to partake. I am ashamed of, and ultimately, saddened by the majority of posts that I see in the rare occasion that I decide to actually scroll through my news feed. I am all for debate, and freedom of speech, but when did it become necessary to contribute your opinion to 100% of what you hear, read, or see in every day life? Especially to that pertaining to another persons personal matters? I have heard some say that if others post their personal matters on Facebook then its their fault for providing the open forum, but honestly, what do your public comments tell about you as a person? I understand that there is a natural desire to be accurate, to fit in, or substantialized in this life, but at what cost to others? What happened to the golden rule? Treat others the way you wish to be treated. When did we stop practicing the if you have nothing nice to say, then dont say anything at all rule? When did we start feeling the desire to display every little aspect of ourselves to the public eye? Some things are not meant for the world to see, and some opinions are best kept to ourselves. Particularly those with cruel intentions and negative outcome. Sure, you may have a valid point, but you dont have to receive 62 likes on Facebook for it to be substantial. You most certainly dont have to shove your opinion in the face of someone who may clearly feel awfully criticized or offended by the things that you feel the need to say. Maybe its a coming of age, or maybe its my strong emotional nature, but I am beyond seeing such careless, selfish behavior in the people that surround me. If I could alter one general thing in this world, to put it simply, it would be the immense amount of genuine respect that we all seem to lack for one another...Its disturbing, to say the least.
