Im in Philadelphia, no really, for the 3rd Annual convening of the Urban Manufacturing Alliance. The Pratt team came down a day early to meet with PolicyLink and the 4 cities that together are forming a community of practice to develop metrics and programming to weave equity objectives into their economic development efforts. Not to get all positive on you, but it was kind of inspiring to both hear a fairly diverse group of cities voice their concern about the growth in income disparity that has come to characterize their economies and to commit to working collaboratively to address this problem. The big convening, which will have about 90 people from 30 cities, is tomorrow and I have to go work on my opening monologue.
