Im in a reflective mood this afternoon. So please excuse me while I exercise my inner muse. I was thinking about the whole Black Girls Rock thing. The fact that we even need a Black Girls Rock says we really dont believe they do. Why else go through all the trouble of creating a movement to say what should be obvious? Such a movement only becomes necessary if you didnt believe it was already true to begin with. People tooting their own horn the loudest usually are trying to convince themselves of something they dont really believe anyway; and trying to convince you too. Dont get me wrong: I enjoyed the show. And believe it has its merits. But youll know that you truly rock when no one has to force you to believe it.
