I just read some SAAAAAD news..that of the passing this morning of the former Chamblee High School teacher who,together with several of my Industrial Arts Photography classmates,helped me really get into 35mm photography. That was in August of 1986,long before digital cameras.I felt great fear as I,a Sophomore,first entered the domain of Mr.Bobby Allen,for I had never taken one 35mm photo,much less developed any pictures.At first I was a bit on a learning curve,like Pvt.Pile in "Full Metal Jacket",but Mr.Allen was nothing like the drill Sergeant in that movie. It was really a few classmates,strangers to me before this class that whipped me into shape,so that I was a master of the Pentax K1000 and pretty slick in the darkroom.I later honed my skills in classes taught by our other photo professor at Chamblee H.S., Dave Smiley. Mr.Allen,I honor you with every artistic photo I take. Rest In Peace !!
