Im into old sewing machines. I think Im also into old computers and old software. Just like some grandmas sewed with their treadle machines their whole lifetimes, I may be futzing around on old Macs until I die. Desktop software had its heyday when I was in my 20s and 30s. Its over now - all cloud and apps and devices designed for consumption rather than production. Maybe I shouldnt feel bad about being old-timey. Those old pre-electric sewing machines have an integrity and strength never matched since. Maybe the same is true of late 2000s desktop computers. Id never fault anyone for sewing on a 100-year-old treadle machine instead of a newfangled computerized electronic one; why should I be ashamed of using old computers and software?
