Im just a simple craftsman. That wasnt the first thing David - TopicsExpress

Im just a simple craftsman. That wasnt the first thing David Petillo said to me on my first (of future) visits to his guitar workshop in Ocean Township - but it was the most strikingly and only inaccurate thing he said! Dave is the son of late and legendary guitar maker, Phil Petillo. He carries on the legend by maintaining his fathers name for the business. It was an honor to spend well over an hour with him last Saturday. Five minutes in? - Dave explained a relationship with The Smithsonian Institute and handed me a 22 million-year old tooth of a Tyranasaurus Rex and a tooth of a Megladon shark. These arent for show; they can be applied to your guitar if thats your preference. Take a look at my humble gallery here. Finest level of work anywhere in the world. Or just bring in your ax for a tune-up, which is what led me to Dave (along with a tale of wonder that sounded like fantasy - before I experienced it myself - from JoBonanno). I suspect, because Im so blown away by Dave as a person and Daves craft work, that Ill work to max all the promo, press and media that he deserves. But heck, he doesnt need much help; 60 Minutes is knocking at his door - and hes keeping them waiting, while he works and does stuff like lecture at Princeton. See the guitar below that appears to match the color of Wonder Bar? Thats because it is the color of Wonder Bar, as commissioned for creation by, who else? - E Streets front man. Dave has done longtime work for everyone from Bruce on to Bowie, Jackson Browne and a long list of legends. And that process of distressing and relicing that guitar? - now includes a few screwdriver whacks, a process I was happy to help with along with Christina Frost who joined me. I could go on but you get it. Dave is a national treasure. Dont be shy if you need even some simple guitar care. And oh! Dave will be playing out soon - so stay tuned here and watch for him. Im very happy to call Dave a new friend and I certainly endorse his master craft-level work. P.S. Thats a finger piano - cool as heck.
