Im kind of on the fence about this. First, I dont think it should - TopicsExpress

Im kind of on the fence about this. First, I dont think it should be titled officer doing his job because it clearly infringes on this mans fourth amendment to show a receipt without probable cause. Ive seen Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Lowes, and other stores do this and would love to get a perspective of how the customer feels about it. Do they take offense to being harassed for being a patron of the store or do they think its acceptable for safety and security like when people go through TSA because weve gotten use to it. Second, just as the jokes and reference lasted for years from both cops and civilians since the Rodney King incident in the 90s, how long will we the references go on to Michael Brown. I guess until the next generation not born yet or until the next media coverage of story they want to divide us on. Next, I do say I admire the mans outspoken way of bringing attention to the whole situation. Always, always remember to have a camera on when dealing with authorities and situations like this. I respect police and their hard and stressful jobs but, until you weed out the ones that dont follow their oath and are on a power trip, I dont trust you. Last, when someone you think is shoplifting, you have to 100% sure of it or you dont approach them. This article says that store security and a customer saw him put unpaid merchandise in his cart. Did they ever take their eyes off him at any time? Was it caught on security cameras? Would the security and customer testify under oath in court? The police officer is acting on the word and representing on the behalf of the store ( because they cant make an arrest) Any wrong doing should be held by the store and sued if they were wrong. The officer ( like we say about a firearm) is a tool and acting on behalf of the merchant. See, told you Im both ways about this. But the bottom line from experience, gut feeling and so on is, does this violate anything of the Bill of Rights and Constitution? Use that measuring stick and you cant go wrong.
