Im mad as hell, and Im with you, Barry Weisbord. This is an incredible sport, full of passion, commitment and heart, both from the horses and the countless thousands that care for them. As custodians, we perform aptly, timely and without resolve seven days a week. We study, watch, wait, worry and commit our lives to their contentment and well-being from conception to retirement. We need an ombudsman to ensure that all participants in this sport are equally committed to their care and dismiss those without regard. Period. But we also need to engage an active audience and open our sport to the millions of potential fans who will love them as much as we do once they experience and comprehend the business better. Its breathtaking, heartbreaking, captivating and awe-inspiring to witness from within and I invite those with little knowledge or understanding of our sport to come see it from my side.
