Im no film critic, so I wont have any deep analysis of the film based on its screenplay, cinematography, plot, acting, etc. I watched the film with only one expectation. I just wanted to at least jump off the edge of my seat at some point in the movie. And the Feng Shui 2 did just that. It got me to scream HOLY CRAP! on many occasions and based on that, the film gave me what I came and paid for. Knowing the lore from the first movie, I knew Im going in for another silly horror movie, and it doesnt bother me one bit! So lets throw that expectation off the table already, we all know people are gonna die in a way that is linked to their Chinese Zodiac Year of birth, and we can expect that its gonna be silly.. It still got me guessing how in the world they will die, and the thrill was there, although the satiation for a witty death was a few points off the mark. Getting stabbed or shot doesnt really take you to the mystic world of the Ghosts curse rather it takes you to a coincidental realm, as they just died at the hands of a person with an animal/symbol on them. So dont expect a Final Destination twisted fate kinda thing for the characters death, and you should be fine. And since I kinda knew there will be a lot of not so subtle commercialism and brand advertisements popping randomly on screen, it just came off as comic relief, though it does throw you off the scary vibe. But hey, dont act as if you werent already aware. The double kills does add a sense of amped-up-ness to it, but nah.. The Martins, Coco and Carmi, though did a decent job portraying their roles, something I didnt expect, props to them! So anyway, if youre into self-gratification through quick scares and random shrieking at almost perfectly timed ghost appearances, then youll pretty much enjoy this movie. Youll also have your fair share of quick laughs at the silly turn of events anyway, so waiting for those things was a bit interesting. Anyway, to put it bluntly, to have fun watching the film, just dont set high expectations. Its a 7/10 for me.
